Research

Lymphoma Genomics & Chromatin Regulation

The lab studies how genetic and epigenetic alterations shape B-cell identity and lymphoma biology. Integrative analyses connect chromatin remodeling, transcriptional regulation, and 3D genome organization with malignant cell states and therapeutic vulnerabilities.

AI & Statistical Modeling

The lab develops machine-learning and statistical approaches for integrating molecular data and modeling biological variation. Methodological research addresses model interpretation, uncertainty, and generalization across studies.

Spatial & Single-Cell Biology

Spatial transcriptomics, protein measurements, and single-cell profiles reveal the organization of lymphoma tissues. The lab develops integrative analyses of tumor heterogeneity, immune and stromal neighborhoods, and relationships between molecular alterations and tissue structure.

Inflammation & Metabolism

The lab studies inflammatory and metabolic responses through host proteomics and multiomic profiling. Research spans physiological stress, spaceflight, and host–microbiome interactions.

Cancer Cell cover, 2024

Chromatin remodeling and lymphoma

Nature, 2026 · Cancer Cell, 2024

Studies of BAF disruption connected chromatin remodeling with altered CTCF binding, 3D genome organization, and lymphoma cell identity. Dr. Meydan led computational analyses and supervised contributing researchers in the 2026 Nature study. He shares first and corresponding authorship on that paper. He also shares first authorship on the 2024 ARID1A study and is a named inventor on its related patent application.

Science cover, 2019

An integrated view of human spaceflight

Science, 2019 · Cell, 2020 · Nature, 2024

The NASA Twins Study provided the first integrated biomolecular view of the human response to spaceflight. Subsequent work identified mitochondrial stress as a central response and helped establish SOMA’s shared atlas and astronaut biobank. Dr. Meydan shares first authorship on the Twins and mitochondrial-stress studies and corresponding authorship on SOMA. His contributions span integrative analysis, methods, and research resources.

Targeted therapy in acute myeloid leukemia

Preclinical studies, 2014–2017 · First IDH2 inhibitor approved, 2017

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow. In some patients, mutations in the IDH2 gene disturb DNA methylation and block blood-cell maturation. Preclinical studies showed that targeted inhibition of mutant IDH2 reversed these changes and restored differentiation in leukemia models. The work was cited in the clinical development of the IDH2 inhibitor enasidenib, approved by the FDA in 2017. Dr. Meydan contributed methods and epigenomic analysis and shares first authorship on the 2017 study.

COVID-19 in New York: testing, viral genomics and host response

2020–2022 · Nature Medicine · Nature Communications · Nature · Cell Reports Medicine

During New York’s first COVID-19 wave, this research combined rapid RT-LAMP testing, viral genome sequencing, host-response profiling of nasopharyngeal swabs, autopsy and spatial tissue studies, and analyses of electronic health records. The RT-LAMP validation contributed to Color’s FDA emergency authorization in May 2020, when fully at-home self-testing was not yet available in the United States. Dr. Meydan shares first authorship on the Nature Communications study and corresponding authorship on the Cell Reports Medicine study of tissue damage.
